Based on the survey conducted in Part A, the target consumers are teenagers and adults who are athletes / exercise on a regular basis. According to the CDC, about 92,700 American adults exercise on a regular basis and they would need the benefits of both water and an electrolyte drink.
Summary
In Part B, we found that there are many existing patents that limit what we can make, but there are far less bottles actually on the market. Although a lot of the patents found are similar to the ideas that we have already been generating, there are slight differences between what we would like to make and what already exists that will help to improve the functionality of these types of bottles. We decided within our group that the target consumers were going to be athletes because of the need for a drink with electrolytes, and the need for water while exercising.
