Habitat for Humanity House
Project Description
The goal of this project was to use Autodesk Revit to create a house that is up to Habitat for Humanity's standards. There were many constraints put on the project because of the fact that it is for Habitat for Humanity. Some of the constraints are listed below:
-3 bedroom, 1070 square feet
-Foundation must have drainage and it must have gravity flow if the site allows it'
-Exterior wood frame wall construction is 2x6 fully sheathed with 1/2-inch foam board insulation
-Houses will not have a basement, garage or carport unless required by city code
-Accessible entrance with no steps
-Passage doors will be 36" wide
-Kitchen and at least one full bathroom will be designed to permit wheelchair maneuverability
-Must incorporate energy conservation features
-All windows are white vinyl single hung tilt in low e double pane.
In this design there was a universal design that there are three bedrooms, 1 1/2 bathrooms, and there is a deck. In the design, in order to make it more green, I included energy star rated appliances and lights.

Conclusion
1. I discovered architecture/civil engineering/electrical engineering with this project. I would maybe consider a career in one of these fields if the whole bridge thing doesn't work out.
2. Evaluating the solution was not included and this steps are very important to creating a successful structure, because you have to make sure that it meets all of the criteria, and that it is the most efficient structure that could be designed.
3. If the house built was in the desert, like in Arizona, rather than where it was designed to be now then the construction and design would be different because the materials used are different, and in the desert the goal would be to keep heat out so instead of having the most windows on the south side so that the sun can be let in, the south side would have the least amount of windows so that the house stays cool. It would also have to be considered that there is a drought in those areas so the pluming & water supply have to be altered so that the least amount of water is used.
